The Dutch cyclist managed to break free from Kasia Niewiadoma on the Col d’Èze, creating a gap of 1 minute and 18 seconds by the finish line. Despite Niewiadoma’s persistent efforts to challenge Vollering during the climbs, the defending champion could not maintain her lead against Vollering’s powerful push in the final 600 meters.
The race was not without its controversies. Tensions flared between Vollering and Niewiadoma following a disagreement over tactics used in Saturday’s stage. Niewiadoma accused Célia Gery, a member of Vollering’s team, of obstructing her during a crucial segment of the race, igniting ongoing debate between the competitors.
