New Zealand delivered an impressive performance to secure a 40-21 victory over Ireland at Eden Park, enhancing their extraordinary unbeaten streak at the Auckland venue to 53 matches. This triumph marks their third consecutive win in the inaugural Nations Championship.

The All Blacks asserted their dominance from the outset, with Patrick Tuipulotu kickstarting the scoring spree, followed by a try from captain Ardie Savea. Despite being temporarily reduced to 14 players due to Luke Jacobson’s yellow card, New Zealand maintained control as Ireland managed a solitary first-half try by Jack Conan. By halftime, the hosts had established a formidable 28-7 lead, with Will Jordan exploiting an Irish error for his sixth try in three Tests and Asafo Aumua scoring just before the break.

Although Ireland showed improvement in the second half, with Joe McCarthy and Hugo Keenan crossing the line, they struggled to overturn their initial deficit and defensive lapses. New Zealand further solidified their lead with tries from Damian McKenzie and Anton Lienert-Brown, ensuring a decisive victory.

Head coach Dave Rennie can be encouraged by his team’s strong start, as they have now achieved victories against France, Italy, and Ireland. This series of wins sets a promising tone ahead of their upcoming four-match tour of South Africa.
